Graduated with a B.A. ( Hons.) (Mass Communication) from UKM, Bangi. Majoring in Advertising, minoring in Broadcasting.

In 1982, he made a career switch to United Malayan Banking Corp. as its Public Affairs Executive. In early 1983, he was awarded ITM's Young Lecturer's Scheme to further his studies, upon completion of his M. A. Mass Communication (Advertising) at the University of South Carolina USA in 1985. After the year, En. Adnan joined the School Of Mass Communication as its academic staff an has been with the school ever since.
To date,
he has been actively involved in various research and consultancy
projects for private an public sectors. His major accomplishment
is the first ever book on local advertising which he authored in
1994, entitled "Advertising
In Malaysia" published by Pelanduk Publication.
